    Process
Every September, Silicon Valley International School begins the application process for the following academic year.

After March, rolling admissions is available for grades in which we have an open seat.
Our application process is designed to help your family learn more about our programs and community and to help us get to know your family. Depending on the grade level of your applicant, there are different steps required to complete the process. Applications, supplemental forms, and activities are due in January 2024. We are here to help you along the way and hope you will reach out with questions. We have listed our application steps below, but please visit your Ravenna account to view the specific requirements of your application process.

We look forward to getting to know your family!

admissions requirements

List of 3 items.

  • language requirement

Preschool - PreKindergarten (Early Years) and Kindergarten
There is no language proficiency requirement for students applying to our Early Years program or Kindergarten.

    1st - 11th Grade
Students applying to our German, French, or Chinese Program in 1st through 11th Grade will be assessed for grade-level proficiency as determined by INTL's curriculum requirements. The Language Assessment will be part of the application process and will be scheduled in January-February.

    Upper School Language Acquisition
Students applying to 6th or 9th Grade need not have any prior experience with language acquisition. Students applying to 7th, 8th, 10th or 11th Grade, however, will be required to have some experience with language acquisition to be discussed during the parent or student interview. For example, a student applying for 7th Grade would be entering Year 2 Spanish acquisition and would need the appropriate Spanish level to join the course. If you have questions about what courses are offered (and at what levels) for our Upper School Language Acquisition students, please reach out to our admission team.
  • age requirement

    • 3 years old for Preschool
    • 4 years old for Pre-Kindergarten
    • 5 years old for Kindergarten
Children will need to be the ages above by September 1st. Based on space availability, developmental readiness for an INTL education and/or prior school experience at a French Accredited School, considerations will be made for children born until December 31st.

Children must be potty trained before starting school.
  • other requirements

Foreign students will be required to comply with all US immigrations regulations. If you are applying for an I-20 Student Visa, please reach out to the admission office for guidance.

admissions decisions

Decisions will be mailed to families in March.

Should you receive a letter of acceptance, in order to guarantee a place for your child, you will be required to return the Enrollment Agreement within 10 days of its mailing along with a registration deposit.

Any spaces in the school that have not been filled after the 10-day return period will then be made available to wait-pooled applicants, one at a time on a rolling basis. This rolling admissions policy will continue until the beginning of school in early September, depending on space availability in each class.

how decisions are made

The Admissions Committee determines the final decisions. Decisions are based on a holistic view of the child, including the child’s ability to learn, receptivity to language acquisition, interaction with other children, positive demeanor, and, if applicable, academic performance through previous transcripts. The Admissions Committee is also looking for a shared educational philosophy between the school and the family. Silicon Valley International School admits students without regard to race, religion, color, gender, creed, or sexual orientation.

Silicon Valley International School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin, or sexual orientation in administration of educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan payments, athletic and other school administered programs.

inquiries

Silicon Valley International School welcomes inquiries throughout the year. Rolling admissions is available for grades in which we have an open seat. Please contact admissions@svintl.org if you have missed any deadlines.
