High School at Silicon Valley International School

We offer the full continuum of the International Baccalaureate — aiming to develop students who have an excellent breadth and depth of knowledge and who flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally, and ethically.

The IB Diploma Programme is internationally recognized as representing one of the highest standards in university preparatory education. It is known to be both broad and deep in content and intellectual challenge. And, since our rigorous bilingual education forms the heart of Silicon Valley International School, we offer a choice between a dual-language program (Chinese, French, or German) or English with Language Acquisition.

IB learner profile

Beyond providing a framework for our curriculum, the International Baccalaureate Programme strives to develop Learner Profile attributes in students that contribute to their overall success academically and socially-emotionally.

bilingual and multilingual

INTL High School offers opportunities for students who are already fluent in a second language as well as for those who would like to learn a new language. While most high school classes are instructed in English, students who are fluent in Chinese, French, or German can continue their language studies and graduate with a bilingual IB Diploma. Students who are new to the  program have the possibility to take entry-level language acquisition classes in Chinese, French, German, or Spanish.

high school key program components

academic curriculum

The International Baccalaureate provides the framework for the Middle Years and Diploma Programmes and is the underpinning of the scope and sequences of every course that is offered at INTL. Courses are divided into two to three units within a semester, which allows students to explore a topic in depth.

Students also engage in projects that go beyond traditional curricula through the Core Program. Projects unique to the IB curriculum include the Personal Project in 10th Grade, the Theory of Knowledge course in 11th and 12th Grade, and the Extended Essay, a 4,000-word research essay in the IB Diploma Programme.

explore the world

Global citizenship and international awareness are at the heart of the Global Learning Program, which emphasizes collaboration, community involvement, and a sense of adventure. We encourage our students to be risk-takers, explore the diversity of our world, and develop the skills necessary to take on the challenges of today’s and tomorrow’s world.

As a Round Square school, INTL offers students the possibility to participate in worldwide student exchanges, international Round Square conferences, service, and research projects.

social-emotional wellbeing

Silicon Valley International School strives to create a nurturing environment in which students are encouraged to reach their full potential. Guided by the International Baccalaureate Learner Profile, social-emotional learning is woven into the fabric of the curriculum as well as taught explicitly.

college counseling

INTL’s High School diploma and the IB Diploma open the door to a world of possibilities. We strive to find the right path for each of our students.

flexible block schedule

INTL High School uses flex periods placed strategically in students’ schedules to allow for academic revision, extension activities, clubs, and more. Each grade level has a different block schedule that is shared with students at the beginning of the semester and updated quarterly.
