athletics
Physical education is an essential part of a child’s education. Engaging in physical activity both individually and in a team setting helps students to build a healthy lifestyle, develop character, improve communication skills, and do better in class.
We have dedicated physical education specialist teachers who provide an integrated program for our students. INTL students also have the opportunity to participate in organized team sports and to compete in local leagues.
Competitive Team Sports
INTL offers a growing competitive sports program. Entering the 2022-2023 school year, INTL will offer middle school students the opportunity to compete in the Small Schools Intermediate League (SSIL). The SSIL facilitates interscholastic sports competitions among the small independent schools of the Bay Area. INTL currently offers girls volleyball, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, coed cross country, and coed tennis.
high school sports
For high school students, INTL will offer a physical education program that will meet both the IB and the California requirements for PE. Students are required to participate in sports either in or out of school for at least a portion of each school year. In the Diploma Programme in grades 11 and 12, participation on a sports team counts towards the Creativity, Action, and Service (CAS) requirements.
